How to have a guaranteed Happy Christmas

Christmas is a time for happy family gatherings. To some, it also means a lot of fun-filled activities, which need a lot of planning.

The build-up to a festive season is always exciting, and the closer it gets, the more expectations we might have. But have you ever found it disappointing when the “big day” ends? It seems like there’s always something missing… something that we have wanted to happen didn’t happen… the “perfect” photo didn’t happen… there weren’t enough people to be around to create the hype… the weather wasn’t perfect… and the list goes on.

DON’T LET YOUR EXPECTATIONS RULE YOU

All of the above scenarios are caused by one thing - our expectations. They build up unconsciously when we start planning things or have a vision of things. But when expectations are too high that the reality might not meet them, disappointments kick in inevitably. The formula below describes it perfectly:

Expectations > Reality

While we cannot control what’s going to happen in reality, we can let go of expectations or at least lower them so we can enjoy every “unplanned positive surprise” that reality throws at us. These are the magic formula we want:

Expectations = Reality
Expectations < Reality

Have Yourself A Merry Christmas!

I wish you all a wonderful and enjoyable holiday where your EXPECTATIONS MEET REALITY! This is what makes us content 😌

P.S. This photo of kids being scared of Santa (above) - I find it very interesting how this has been an eternal truth for decades! Parents still expect to take a great photo of their kids with Santa even though the reality is... their kids aren't enjoying even 0.1% of it!

Merry Christmas! 🎄

Best,

Grace x
