Are you putting your money & time towards your most important priorities?

We can tell a lot about a person based on their calendar and spending records. Where have you spent most of your time and money in the past month? And would you say they were worth it?

In this previous post, I shared a simple exercise to know what matters most to us in the next 20 years. This is what I call life goals - things that we want to achieve that are truly resonating with what our hearts want. It could be spending more time with our families, travelling and exploring the world, retiring early and having a passive income while living in a resort in Bali. Just like how we’re using Google Maps, we need to know where we are standing before finding the available routes to get to our destinations.

The exercise is easy, simply print out the worksheet below to see how much time and money you’re spending on the most important people and things in your life, and how you’d like to adjust it. At first, it might look shocking to some people (especially if you like shopping!), and some might find that they are working way more hours than they spend time with their kids. It’s never too late to adjust!

It’s always nice to “Marie Kondo” our closets every season, and it’s the same for our time and money spending habits. I suggest doing this every 3-4 months, like how she clean-up the closets - getting rid of things that don’t “spark joy” to our goals.
