LOGGING IN TO YOUR BANK ACCOUNT MORE THAN ONCE A WEEK?

In a previous article, I mentioned that if you show me your calendar, I can pretty much tell you what your priorities are. Our actions = our real mindsets.

So what does the bank account log-in frequency tell us? This is an important question because it indicates how healthy a relationship we have with our money.

IF YOU LOG IN TO YOUR ACCOUNT MORE THAN ONCE A WEEK

This is an absolute RED FLAG because it tells us that you:

  • don’t feel in control of your money

  • don’t have a financial system in place

  • are probably obsessed with $2 questions but not $200K ones

  • are playing defence with your money, but not offence

If you log in to your bank account frequently, it’s like you’ve hired a young kid that you don’t trust that he/she is working for you well enough. But if you’re confident in your assistant, you don’t have to check often because you’ll see results - just like how a healthy financial system can work for you.

What you can do now

If that’s you, the first thing to do is to get a trusted financial consultant or life planner to help you review your current situation, and set up a financial system that can WORK FOR YOU. Set budgets for everything so you can spend your hard-earned money on things that you love, automate savings and allocate for areas in your all-weather investment portfolio.

When we have a healthy financial system working for us, we won’t need to log into our accounts to pay bills or check our spending. A good money strategy is to play both defence and offence, like putting together a soccer team with players of different strengths (as discussed in this post).
